Where can I find water level sensors?

The liquid levels we stock can be used in a whole range of industries to ensure accuracy is always on point. Here are a few examples:

What kinds of water level sensors are available?

Pressure

This type of sensor can be found in water tanks or reservoirs and detects liquid levels through the amount of pressure being put on it. This is done through a tube in the sensor which can detect the amount of air in it to give a level value.

Ultrasonic

Ultrasonic water level sensors are a non-contact option suited to measuring things like oil and grease, but can also be used for solids such as sand and cement too. This sensor works by emitting ultrasonic waves and then measures how long it takes the reflected waves to go back to the sensor to give a fluid level value.

Capacitive

A capacitive liquid level sensor measures the change of capacitance and liquid unevenness. This is done by placing a metal rod in your water tank which creates a medium of gas and liquid between the rod and the tank walls. This medium will have a dielectric constant which will change when the liquid levels increase and decrease. Unevenness between these electrodes will indicate a change in liquid levels.

Radar

This sensor measures liquid levels by sending a high radio frequency from an antenna through an air gap. The amount reflected will determine the level height of the liquid you're measuring.

Float levels and switches

Water level float switches can measure the levels in tanks or larger bodies of water by placing them at the top of the liquid. These are commonly used in sewage pumps and liquid transfer pumps and consist of a reed switch and pivoted magnet. The switch is at the top of the liquid and any changes to its level result in the reed switch making adjustments, such as turning on or off the water pump.
